About perfect! I worked in a restaurant known for their beef on weck and the fob is to dip the cut rolls in the au jus just a scrap before serving and so its not and then messy.

Admittedly what i've been looking for. I grew up in Buffalo, this beingness one of my FAVORITE sandwiches. I didn't realize it was only local until I moved to the west declension. Now I'yard dating an Oregonian and he had never heard of beef on weck. Outrageous! So, since in that location are no Kimmelweck rolls to be found out here, this recipe was perfect. Thanks!

Great recipe, and a bully way to brand kimmelweck rolls for people who may not be able to observe them where they live!

This takes a French Dip to an entirely new level. I love caraway seeds, so this just hit the spot. The coarse salt adds a texture reminiscent of a behemothic soft pretzel, although I must admit information technology was too salty for me using the recommended ratio. The caraway seeds and salt volition stick to the bun using apparently h2o, simply I found that you go a crustier pinnacle if you brush the buns with an egg launder consisting of egg whites and water.

Between the table salt in the au jus and the bun, it was just too salty. I'1000 sticking with Italian beefs.

Closest thing to Kimmelweck rolls without going through the hassle of making them yourself. Try brushing the rolls with melted butter instead of h2o (I likewise leave off the caraway seeds). The "Easy Deadening Cooker French Dip" recipe is delicious for cooking your meat and au jus sauce. These two recipes brand for a oral cavity watering sandwich!

this is a really skillful, quick convenience recipe!!! I esp. similar the part about making the plain kaiser rolls into kimmelweck rolls. My husband and kids enjoyed them. Thanks!

Thank you then much for the method of making "weck" from "no weck!" I surely miss those Weck rolls from Buffalo! At present I don't have to feel deprived!

This is a expert recipe. I brushed the rolls with a h2o-cornstarch mixture, about the consistency of Elmer's glue, then put salt and caraway on, and so baked them.

I am from Western NY and this sandwich is one of the things I fondly remember and really miss eating! There is zero like the truthful Kimmelweck roll but once you are outside of Western NY you won't discover them. This method of transforming the Kaiser roll really does work though! Thanks for the recipe!

similar I remember Bay-Lo's Bar & Grill beefiness on weck ( Bailey @ Lovejoy in Buffalo , New York ) ... they would marinate the beefiness ribeye slices in their own juices, put 'em hot on a D & L Baker kummelweck whorl and add a dollop of horseradish on top !!! ... with a draft beer, some kinda good !!!

Looks pretty Good. My favorite restaurant in Western NY makes it with thinly sliced Prime number rib and German potato salad on the side and I have substituted both here.

I used cornstarch and water to castor on the hard curl and and so sprinkle with Pretzel common salt and caraway seeds. Then broil in the oven at 275 degrees F for perchance 10 minutes but until the egg white is dried and shiny or the cornstarch is dried. I dip the cut side of the meridian roll very slightly into the au jus and I am thinking that y'all desire the beef pink and so you do not want to cook it all in the au jus. I love that I can make this sandwich in my PA kitchen, even if the restaurants merely offer Cheesesteaks. I takes me domicile with every seize with teeth. Cheers for posting!

DO NOT cook the wafer/sparse sliced beefiness for 10 minutes on medium while the rolls are in the oven - this will overcook the meat. As others take stated, utilise tongs to dip the beef in the hot au jus for 15 seconds, plate it on the lesser half of the roll, dip the peak half in the au jus, and set it on top of the beef. Guests can add their own horseradish.

An excellent make at home recipe for a Buffalo tradition! I especially appreciated the hack for creating a kimmelweck ringlet since yous only cannot become them hither in the south. Succulent meal following a Bills win!!

I didn't do the salt and caraway seeds on the rolls, but these were delicious and very easy.

The biggest flaw in this recipe is y'all need to use pretzel salt non kosher or form ground sea common salt. Its just not the aforementioned. Skillful in a pinch though.

I lived just outside of Buffalo, NY for 20 years. This was e'er my favorite sandwich. This recipe was perfect. Since yous tin't find weck rolls in Seattle, this recipe showed me how to make them. And as for the roast beefiness, getting it thinly sliced is of import. That contributes to its tenderness. I am so happy to accept a sense of taste of home! Yum!

I moved to Maine several years ago and Kimmelweck is unknown here. Besides chicken wings this is my near missed food. This is the closest I've came to having the existent thing.Just brand sure that the beef is rare. I recently returned from a trip to Buffalo and after having one there I was peckish more here. Thanks for giving me some memories dorsum.
